…but nothing seems to be happening.

The Reason You’re Not Losing Fat

There are lots of reasons you’re probably not losing fat.

You may not be be getting too much of one thing…and too much of another thing…and you’re going way overboard on THAT thing.

You may be busting it at the gym, but are you really working hard enough?

You may be doing alright in the kitchen, but that pasta you just had may be destroying your gains.

So what do you need to do?  How/what can you change to see better results?

Well, let’s start with these three big ones…

1. Not Eating HEALTHY Fats

Either you’re eating the wrong type of fats, or you’re eating too much of them.

You see, fat, in and of itself, contains calories.  And too many calories – and not enough calorie burn – may lead to fat gain if you’re not careful.

And that doesn’t just hold true for fat, but everything you eat for the most part.

On the other hand, if you eat the WRONG kind of fats (think deep fried foods that contain trans-fats), then you could be putting yourself in a position to gain fat and destroy your health in the process.

What to have instead:
 Look for foods that contain a fair amount of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, as well as foods that contain medium-chain triglycerides.

Mono and polyunsaturated fats (think omega-3 fats here), have been shown to reduce inflammation, which could help in the fat burning process.  And medium-chain triglycerides are seldom stored, but may be used more for energy purposes.

2. You Eat A Lot of “Boxed” Foods

If a lot of your meals come from a box, then your diet may be in need of an overhaul – even if you include fruits and vegetables.

Refined food products, like crackers, chips, pre-packaged desserts, and white breads, may contain little to no nutrition and may be loaded with sugar.

This could spike your blood sugar levels, which could lead to greater fat storage.

Plus, refined foods may increase inflammation levels, which could make it harder for your fat cells to release their stored fatty acids for energy use.

What You Should Do Instead: if your diet currently consists of a lot of refined foods, you should start to slowly cut them out of your daily nutrition plan.

Instead you should be focusing on increasing your fruit and vegetable intake, water intake, and whole grains (such as sprouted-grain breads), as they provide a whole mess of nutrition that could only help your fat loss.

3. You’re NOT Challenging Yourself


There’s working out and then there’s WORKING OUT!

If you want to really see changes in your body, then you need to up your intensity and push yourself harder and further than ever before.

Studies show that interval training (Tabata, sprint intervals, hill sprints, etc.) are great ways to boost your caloric burn AND preserve your lean muscle mass.

And this could mean that your body will maximize calorie burn from fat stores, therefore stripping away some of the belly fat.

You could DOUBLE or TRIPLE your calorie burn by simply going all out on a few sets of sprints, as opposed to your standard cardio exercise.
