NEVER Touch ENERGY DRINKS When You're Tired and Drained

The use of energy drinks is on the rise, not just in adults, but also in teens and middle school-aged children.

In fact, due to the decreased consumption of soda and diet soda, the energy drink market has skyrocketed.

So what is wrong with energy drinks?

For one, energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine, some contain up to 240 milligrams of caffeine, which is seven TIMES the amount you would find in a regular or diet soda.

And the high caffeine levels may carry with it some very severe health implications.

Not only do energy drinks contain a TON of caffeine, but they may also contain other synthetic stimulants and herbal stimulants.

And what happens when the caffeine stop working for you?

You crash, leaving you with very little energy or NO energy at all.

Energy Drinks in the News

If you haven’t been following the news recently, the FDA has been investigating five deaths that may be linked to a popular energy drink.

The use of energy drinks may result in unsafe increases in blood pressure and heart rate, which could pose a danger to someone with pre-existing heart conditions or a history of increased blood pressure.

But what is the big picture?

There are more teenagers and middle-school aged kids consuming these energy drinks.

And the caffeine levels are WAY TOO HIGH for adults, let alone teenagers and middle-school aged children.

The recommended intakes for caffeine in adults, is less than 300 milligrams per day.  And for children and teenagers, the recommendations drop to 100 milligrams per day.

However, some energy drinks contain a whopping 240 milligrams of caffeine, which far exceeds the daily intake for children and teenagers.

Why Energy Drinks Are Used

Energy drinks are used mainly as a pick me up, instead of drinking coffee or tea.

People tend to turn to energy drinks, because they feel it could be less addicting than drinking coffee.

However, the OPPOSITE may be true!

Energy drinks, according to some consumers, could be just as addictive as coffee is.

Athletes are the other group of people who use energy drinks.

Those athletes, who are looking for that competitive edge, typically turn to energy drinks to improve their performance.

Research has shown that caffeine may not only boost performance but could increase concentration and prevent fatigue.

This is one of the BIGGEST reasons an athlete may turn to caffeine or energy drinks before a competition.

They want that competitive edge.

The Energy Drink Alternative

Due to the increased popularity of energy drinks, many companies, consumers, and athletes are looking for the next best thing.

This is what you should look for in your energy drink:

• Boost performance without making you crash

• Contains no artificial anything –including stimulants, preservatives, colors, or sweeteners

• Is all natural

They should contain only natural ingredients that have been shown to boost performance, without any undue side effects.

But most of all, it should have little or NO CAFFEINE associated with it!

If you want caffeine, grab a cup of coffee.  The caffeine found in coffee has been shown to boost performance and give you an edge over the competition.

Plus, coffee has a wide range of antioxidants, which have been shown to speed recovery, reduce inflammation, and improve clarity and brain health.

So if you want to improve your performance and improve your energy without the side effects of too much caffeine, find an drink that boosts your energy levels, without the crash that comes with it!
