Here Are 3 Ingredients To Turn Your Dessert Into a Superstar
By Kevin DiDonato MS, CES--Level 1 Certified Precision Nutrition and Certified Personal Trainer
If we’re being honest here, who here doesn’t like dessert?
Let’s see a show of hands…
Just as I thought, there is not one single person here who doesn’t love a good dessert.
It could be a cookie…a slice of pie…or some sort of cake!
And if you look back throughout history, everyone seemed to like dessert!
But:
There is only one problem when you compare dessert from centuries ago to the desserts of today.
The ingredients! Most desserts back in the late 19th century consisted of fresh fruit and honey—two staples that not many people got to enjoy.
Today, however, fresh fruit and honey is the last thing on someone’s mind when they order dessert.
Instead, they look for options that are loaded with processed and refined ingredients…boatloads of sugar…and deadly amounts of unhealthy fats.
And all these ingredients—when combined together—have been shown to boost risk for cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
The desserts of today are drastically different from back then.
But that shouldn’t stop you from eating a dessert…
Seriously, studies show that people who cut desserts out of their diet may end up craving that food even more!
And those intense cravings could easily cause you to drop your healthy eating plan and prevent you from losing the weight you so rightfully deserve to lose.
So what can you do? Plenty…
The Three Ingredients to a Healthy Dessert
Like I said, you don’t have to skip dessert just because you’re on a diet.
What you need to do is change the way you make your dessert.
Instead of packing your dessert full of sugar, fat, and processed flours, why not include healthier options like nuts, fresh fruit, and dark chocolate.
Yes, I said chocolate!
Studies show that these three popular ingredients not only hold promise for blasting away belly fat…
…but they could also steadily improve your health!
Let’s take a look at each individual ingredient and see…
1. Dark Chocolate
We will start with, by far, the most popular ingredient…
Dark chocolate contains plenty of polyphenols and antioxidants that have been shown to improve health, lower heart disease risk, and even blast away belly fat.
It contains a specific nutrient that has been shown to boost fat burning! Plus, the polyphenols have also been shown to reduce the activity of specific enzymes responsible for breaking down carbs.
Also, the flavonoids found in dark chocolate may improve insulin sensitivity and could even slow the absorption rate of blood sugar.
No wonder why it’s a fan favorite!
2. Nuts
Nuts are a great source of protein, fat, and essential vitamins your body needs to boost fat loss, lower inflammation, and prevent undue spikes in blood sugar.
They are a perfect option for those looking to boost fat loss by eating a type of treat, without feeling bad about it.
The protein in nuts alone could squash food cravings and boost appetite suppression.
Plus, the omega-3 fatty acids found in nuts could lower inflammation, boost heart health and, according to some studies, could boost fat loss.
3. Fresh Fruit
Fruit is naturally low in calories, high in water, and contains plenty of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
The antioxidant may lower internal inflammation, which could be a cause of weight loss resistance.
But fruit goes a little bit further…
Not only does it contain fat-busting vitamins and minerals, but fruit also contains tons of fiber!
Why is this important? Fiber has been shown to satisfy your appetite better than anti-nutrients like sugar and hydrogenated fats.
Take Home Message
There are a lot of people that skip dessert when they are on a diet because it’s one of the forbidden foods or because they think they will get fat.
However, certain desserts may do a great job of busting through stubborn belly fat!
Case in point…
A dessert made from fresh fruit, nuts, and dark chocolate may not only satisfy your sweet tooth, but could also improve your health.
Who says you need to skip dessert! Include these three ingredients and you may find the fat melting off your body while you enjoy some “forbidden” foods!
