The HOAX Behind This Popular Drink
For many people, a glass of juice is one way to start the day.
And, why not?
You look at a glass of juice and you may think that your juice is low-calorie…
Contains natural sugars…
Contains loads of vitamins and minerals…
And should be part of a healthy breakfast!
But, take a closer look (unless you made it yourself) and you may find some hidden fat traps are also contained in your cup of juice.
Unless you have the time – or the money – to spend on expensive juicers or exotic fruit blends, then chances are you’re at the supermarket picking out one of the hundreds of juice options on the shelves.
But it says 100 percent juice right on the label! But, the question remains, 100 percent of WHAT kind of juice and what about the calories?
Or contains fiber! Yes, but do they REALLY mash up the whole berry and put it into your juice?
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered!
Luckily for you, we have some answers for you…
Don’t Fall for the Juice
In your local grocery store or supermarket, you may find endless choices of fruit juices.
And you, being a wise consumer, may look at the labels to determine the BEST juice for you.
However, what you may choose, may actually work in the opposite – even possibly leading to weight gain.
Most commercial juices contain a number of fillers, additives, and junk that make them a less healthy product for you to consume.
Here is what juice companies are doing that is literally pulling the wool over your eyes:
100% Fruit Juice
When a label states there is 100 percent juice contained in that product, there really is 100 percent juice.
Yes, you are getting all the wonderful benefits (vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants) of that particular juice or juices, but your belly may be getting a whole lot more!
You see, you may also get twice - if not three times - the amount of sugar and calories in that glass of juice when compared to the whole fruit counterpart.
And this may lead to an excess in calories and sugar, which could be easily stored as fat.
Not good if you’re looking for a trim and toned midsection this summer.
If you want to avoid the extra calories and sugar – which you should – opt for the whole fruit (apple, orange, pomegranate) alternative.
Your belly will thank you!
Added “Fillers”
Now, you look at the label and you may ask yourself, “where are the added fillers?”
Well, let me tell you, the added “fillers” may come as your everyday variety apple and grape juices.
You see, some exotic fruits (pomegranates for example) are extremely expensive for juice companies to get.
So they may contain a very small percentage of that juice, but the rest is “filled” with apple and/or grape juices.
Yes, you may be getting 100 percent fruit juice, but you’re not getting 100 percent of the juice that may be on the label.
The other type of filler: water and sugar.
So your fruit juice may NOT be 100 percent pure.
What Type of Fiber is THIS?
Now, you know that most fruit juice is made by squeezing all the juice out of the fruit.
This leaves the most important part – the skin – to be unused and discarded.
But what about the fiber found in the juice?
Very little naturally-occurring fiber actually goes into fruit juice.
Since most fiber is contained in the peels and skin of the fruits, then chances are pretty slim that you are getting some – if any fiber at all – in your everyday commercial fruit juices.
So what have some companies done?
They have placed a chemically-made fiber into the fruit juice to add some fiber-containing benefits.
So be wary of fiber-rich juices, because chances are they are just fillers or chemical additives that may do little to boost your overall health.
Buyers Beware!
Don’t buy the hype!
Most fruit juices on the market today are filled with too much sugar, to many calories, added fillers, and chemically-produced additives that may do little to boost your health.
Instead, they may lead to an excess caloric intake and even greater chance for extra fat gain.
For added fat loss, avoid commercial juices and stick with good old fashioned water or whole fruits.
