Do NOT Eat Your Yogurt Until You Read THIS
By Kevin DiDonato MS, CES--Level 1 Certified Precision Nutrition and Certified Personal Trainer
There is one food that many people eat when they are trying to lose weight.
And that is yogurt!
But the truth is: Yogurt—as you know it today—could easily be one of the WORST foods when it comes to weight loss.
This, however, doesn’t stop people from buying yogurt or looking for creative ways to include yogurt in their diet to help blast belly fat.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some really great yogurts out there that CAN help you slim down and look great this summer…
…but the kind that is sitting in your fridge is NOT one of them!
Why?
Simply put, most commercial yogurts on the market today are not really yogurt.
You should be looking for full-fat yogurts with very few ingredients—if you’re looking to blast away belly fat.
But instead, you’re buying the products filled with additives, sweeteners, and sugar (with a little bit of yogurt inside) that help to contribute to the weight loss conundrum that you’re faced with today.
So, before you pick up anymore yogurt, be sure you’re buying products that don’t contain any of these potentially awful ingredients:
1. Low-Fat Yogurts
We have spoken about the dangers of low-fat food products in the past.
Yogurt is no different. The problem with low-fat anything is that you’re taking away the fat of the product.
And this means, in order to maintain the right consistency in the product, you’re going to add something back to it to maintain the rich, creamy texture in most yogurts.
This means that you’re going to get some sort of additive (possibly gelatin or some other thickener), which usually adds more calories to the product.
Plus, usually these additives are fattening chemicals that may only contribute to the obesity epidemic.
2. Fruit-on-the-Bottom Yogurts
Here’s another big one to AVOID: Those fruit-on-the-bottom yogurts are nothing but a fat trap in disguise
Yes, I know that plain yogurt may not be all that appealing, which is why people prefer the fruit on the bottom kinds.
But here’s the deal…
The “fruit” is usually pretty sparse on fruit, but high in sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or some other form of sweetener.
This leads to excess calories and the sugar itself contributes to the overweight/obesity issue at hand,
3. Added Sugar
Sugar, which is the main cause of obesity, is often added to many food products to improve the taste.
And that goes for yogurt as well!
Many commercial yogurts contain a whopping 31 to 33 grams of ADDED sugar. This added sugar could lead to intense food cravings, out-of-control blood sugar levels, and definitely contributes to fat gain.

Be sure you’re reading the labels on your yogurts. You should only see naturally occurring sugar from the milk that goes into making the actual yogurt.
If you see the word sugar, corn syrup, corn sugar solids, or any number of other names for sugar, put it down and keep looking.
4. Probiotics
There are a lot of yogurt brands out there that claim they have active cultures or probiotics naturally occurring in the yogurt.
And this would be great for your health since probiotics have been shown to reduce fat stores and body fat.
However, the probiotics found in most yogurts may already be dead, or may not be as active as one would normally think.
When you include lots of sugar or artificial ingredients into a yogurt, it may actually limit the health-benefiting effects of the probiotics found in the yogurt.
Take Home Message
There are hundreds of thousands of people who flock to the dairy section to pick up yogurt when they are about to start a diet.
And for good reason…Yogurt has plenty of fat-fighting properties and should be part of a healthy diet.
However, choosing the wrong type of yogurt could lead to feeling fat, bloated, and generally unhealthy.
Yogurts that contain too much added sugar, additives, chemicals, preservatives, and other artificial ingredients may create a recipe for disaster when it comes to losing weight.
If you’re looking for the best type of yogurt to spike your metabolism and boost your fat loss, then you should look for the full-fat kind, one that contains ZERO added sugars (the only sugar should be naturally occurring from milk).
This type of yogurt could lead to a faster metabolism and a smaller waistline in no time at all!
