The 1 Step To Supercharging Your Breakfast
By Kevin DiDonato MS, CES--Level 1 Certified Precision Nutrition and Certified Personal Trainer
There is a lot of debate regarding the importance of eating breakfast in the morning.
Is it good? Is it bad?
Well, unfortunately, we are not here to add to the debate.
What we are here to do is give you some tips on how to supercharge your breakfast in order to send your metabolism into overdrive and blast that stubborn belly fat.
So, here’s what you need to know…
Breakfast and Fat Loss
For years, eating breakfast was a staple to blasting belly fat.
Breakfast may start your day off with high energy foods…it could jumpstart your metabolism…and it could boost meal satisfaction throughout the day.
However, eating breakfast has come under scrutiny as of late.
You see, some people believe that eating breakfast may not be as important as once thought.
However, like I previously mentioned, we are not here to add to the debate.
Today I am here to share with you some tips to super charge your breakfast and make it a fat blasting masterpiece.
But, there is a secret…
Yes, you need to include protein…yes, you need to include essential fats (like olive oil or avocado)…and yes, you need to balance with the right fruits and vegetables.
But there is one ingredient you need to consider if you want to feel fuller – for longer periods of time – and, of course, to melt away your body fat.
What is it? Resistant starches!
Resistant starches are a type of starch found in some foods that, get this, are resistant to digestion!
They simply may not be broken down by your body!
And this is a good thing when it comes to digestion, metabolic health, and of course, fat loss.
You see, when resistant starches enter your stomach, they are passed through to the intestine completely intact.
Then they are used as a fuel for the many bacteria (gut microbes outnumber your cells ten to one), which is just good news for your intestinal health.
They have also been shown to reduce blood sugar, improve insulin sensitivity, and reduce blood sugar spikes!
And…they help boost fat loss!
Not in terms of stripping away fat from your body like a great diet and exercise program can do, but in a roundabout way, they
lend a hand in boosting your overall weight loss.
You see, resistant starches may leave you feeling fuller – for longer periods of time.
This could keep you away from dipping into your chocolates…gorging yourself on vending machine junk…and stuffing your face with Twinkies or pizza.
It simply means you will not be hungry at all points during the day, which could give you most control over your caloric intake. And that means better weight maintenance or even bigger fat loss.
You should aim to get 10 to 15 grams a day of resistant starches from a variety of foods.
So, where can one get more resistant starches? Well, start with these foods below:
Banana flour (made from green bananas) – 10.5 to 13.2 grams
Oats – 4.4 grams
Green peas – 4.0 grams
White beans - 3.7 grams
Cold pasta – 1.9 grams
Pearl Barley – 1.6 grams

For some, breakfast is the most important meal of the day when it comes to boosting their fat loss.
That’s why you should be including some of the BEST foods with breakfast in order to turn it from so-so to an absolutely amazing fat burning masterpiece.
And one way to accomplish that is to include more resistant starches to your breakfast – and every other meal!
This could stabilize your blood sugar, improve your body's sensitivity to insulin, and even satisfy your appetite.
This could ultimately lead to greater fat loss results!
