The #1 Way To Prevent Death In Middle-Age?
So, you’re middle-aged.
You still have demands at work, at home, some even, at school.
You don’t think you have time to exercise.
You think that it’s a waste of time since you’re already middle-aged.
What more can you do for your body?
Well, I am here to tell you that exercise is IMPORTANT – at ANY AGE!
And, just because you’re busy, middle-aged, and may lack the desire to exercise, it’s so important that you do.
Want to know why?
Prevention…
Exercise and Middle-Age
Look, we are not going to lecture you on if you exercise or if you don’t.
However, we ARE going to share with you one important piece of information – regarding exercise – that may prevent you from dying early.
Question: what is the number one killer in the world?
Answer: heart disease.
Although heart disease is still a large killer, there are plenty of people who live after having a heart attack.
They live with heart disease, which is becoming more common. And treatment with medication and the right diet is keeping more and more middle-aged people alive.
But what also is happening – due to the large number of people living with heart disease – you are seeing a larger number of people who are diagnosed with heart failure.
Now, heart failure occurs when your heart is too weak to pump blood to the rest of your body.
Typically, treatment options include medications and the possibility of using an implantable device that shocks your heart and keeps it in beat.
And like we mentioned before, eating the right diet helps to lower your risk for developing heart disease or the progression to heart failure.
In some cases, there is not a lot that can be done.
But in other cases, including exercise may lower the risk for heart disease, therefore improving longevity.
And guess what, this study was done on MIDDLE-AGED ADULTS!
Here is what the study found:
First, researchers ranked the fitness levels of over 9,000 people and followed them for 18 years.
They showed that people who WEREN’T fit at the beginning of the study, were more likely to develop heart failure after age 65 than those who were fit at the beginning of the study.
But here is the sweet part…
For the people who IMPROVED their exercise levels – by measurement of METs – reduced their risk for developing heart failure.
And…
For every ONE MET increase in exercise level, their risk dropped by 20 percent!
One of the authors stated:
"Improving fitness is a good heart failure prevention strategy -- along with controlling blood pressure and improving diet and lifestyle -- that could be employed in mid-life to decrease the risk of heart failure in later years.”
Get Moving = Lower Risk
If you’re middle-aged and don’t exercise, than you may be putting yourself – and your family – at risk for an early death!
Here are the steps to a longer life and a reduced risk for heart disease and heart failure: eat the right diet (including omega-3 fatty acids) and exercise more!
Remember, increasing your fitness level – by even ONE MET – may reduce your risk for heart failure by as much as 20 percent!
