Nature’s Key To Breast Cancer Prevention?
The most common form of cancer for women is breast cancer.
And, it may be one of the worst forms of cancer to have.
It is the LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH among women of all races and ages.
Here are some sobering statistics (the only current statistics are from 2009):
Over 200,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in the US alone.
And of those 200,000 plus women, just over 40,000 of them died from the disease.
Although these numbers are just from the US, many women from around the world may be diagnosed and may die from this dreadful disease.
Now, doctors and oncologists (cancer docs) have for years hinted that diet may play an important role in the development of all cancers – including breast cancer.
However, many of the studies have been refuted or challenged.
And, up until now, doctors have hinted that omega-3 fatty acids may be helpful in preventing cancer – including breast cancer.
However, those results have also been challenged.
But now, a new study may show some surprising findings related to breast cancer and omega-3 fatty acids…
Omega-3 Fats and Breast Cancer
According to this study, although diet has been recommended as a way to prevent breast cancer, scientific research has yet to confirm those findings.
And, some studies show that omega-3 fatty acids – yes the same ones responsible for improvements in heart health – may also reduce
your breast cancer risk.
However, as previously mentioned, the results have been challenged as to the effectiveness of omega-3 and breast cancer prevention.
Until now, that is!
A new study recently published may show – for the first time – direct evidence that omega-3 fatty acids may play a large role in preventing breast cancer.
Here is what they found:
They found mice, supplemented with omega-3 fatty acids, showed a reduction in tumor volume by as much as 30 percent.
They also noticed a reduction in tumor multiplicity by as much as 33 percent!
Simply put, both size and number of tumors decreased with the addition of omega-3 fatty acids!
Plus, they showed that this result was similar in mice fed the omega-3 fatty acids rich diet.
They concluded:
“Using complementary genetic and complementary dietary approaches we provide, for the first time, unequivocal experimental evidence that n-3 PUFA is casually linked to tumor prevention.”
Another Benefit of Omega-3 Fats
From heart disease and brain health to eye health and reproductive health, omega-3 fats have been shown in research to enhance and improve many areas pertaining to optimal health.
And now, according to this study, omega-3 fatty acids may have been shown to prevent breast cancer development – therefore reducing overall risk.
