They Both Reduced Their Risk Factors For Heart Disease. And So Can YOU.
You look around at everyone, and say that it can’t happen to you.
That it WON’T happen to you.
But that exact thinking may cause you PREMATURE death.
Heart disease is the number ONE KILLER of men and women in the US.
And guys, you may be at INCREASED risk for developing heart disease.
So thinking it will not happen to you may be WRONG.
DEAD WRONG…
Platelets, Endothelial Cells And Heart Disease
Endothelial cells are smooth muscle cells that line ALL your veins and arteries.
Endothelial cells release many different factors into your blood which maintain vascular health.
Nitric oxide is responsible for dilation of your vessels.
This enables your blood to travel through your body with relative ease.
However, when nitric oxide is decreased it may cause stiffer arteries.
pressure to slowly CREEP UP
And guys, pay close attention, because the information if VITAL to your health and LONGEVITY.
Microparticles
One other function of your endothelial cells is to release von Willebrand factor into your blood.
This factor is responsible for platelet formation, which may lead to blockage in your arteries, possibly leading to a HEART ATTACK.
Your endothelial cells also release very tiny particles, called microparticles, into your blood stream.
Microparticles are released in response to cell activation, injury to your endothelium or cell apoptosis, or cell death.
As a review, free radicals are nasty little buggers.
They course through your veins and arteries leaving a trail of damage in their wake.
And this damage may increase inflammation in your endothelial cells.
This inflammation may create a cascade of events beginning with endothelium dysfunction.
Endothelium dysfunction is characterized by decreased nitric oxide, which might leave you arteries stiffer.
It also increases the production of prostacylin, which are inflammatory mediators in heart disease.
This enrages your endothelial cells possibly increasing your risk for heart disease.
Let us get back to the microparticles…
Dysfunction of YOUR endothelial cells may increase the number of microparticles found in your blood.
Increased microparticles may also decrease nitric oxide production.
It may also promote inflammation, but MOST IMPORTANTLY they may initiate thrombosis.
Thrombosis
Your body is amazing and tries its hardest to prevent as much damage as possible.
However, sometimes there is too much inflammation, possibly leading to damage to your circulatory system.
And this damage may create a leakage of blood.
Your endothelial cells then release platelets that bind to your artery wall to stop the blood flow.
The microparticles may initiate the formation of blood clots.
But now these blood clots are IN YOUR CIRCULATORY system, possibly obstructing blood flow throughout your body.
And to further complicate things, this clot can dislodge and travel, which may cause heart attacks, strokes or embolisms.
So it is VITAL to your health to PROTECT your veins and arteries from these MICROPARTICLES.
You may be asking how?
Let me explain…
DHA And EPA Found In Fish/Krill Oil
If you like fish, then you are in for some good news.
If you take Krill oil or fish oil supplements every day, then you may also be in for some good news.
If you do neither, then you should pay CLOSE ATTENTION.
Fish, Krill and Fish oil may be have essential fats, which may save your life.
more powerful for reducing your risk
These fatty acids are broken down into two nutrients: DHA and EPA.
Now there is another fatty acid, called ALA, which are plant derived fatty acids.
When you ingest ALA, your body breaks it down into DHA.
and may be very inefficient
Researchers have determined that Omega 3 fatty acids may reduce thrombotic events.
They determined that adequate intakes of omega 3 fatty acids may decrease microparticle numbers.
It may also reduce activities that may promote coagulation.
This is where it gets interesting: omega 3 fatty acids may be gender specific.
men and women differently
And the results WILL SHOCK YOU!
The study participants consisted of both men and women.
Both groups (placebo and test) showed significant reduction in platelet accumulation 24 hours after ingesting omega 3 fatty acids.
And both groups reduced microparticle activity.
However, here is where the MEN should listen up!
Men who ingested EPA showed a reduction in both platelet accumulation AND microparticle numbers compared to the placebo group.
Women only showed significant decreases in platelet accumulation but showed NO REDUCTION in the number of microparticles- with DHA.
This study determined that increasing EPA in MEN may decrease the risk for developing thrombotic disease later on in life.
Eat Your Fish
Eating fish or supplementing your diet with high quality omega 3 fatty acids may reduce your cardiovascular disease risk.
Men are especially susceptible to heart disease, making it the number one killer among men in the US.
Cells which line your veins and arteries may become inflamed, possibly causing them to release different factors, possibly increasing your heart disease risk.
Men who regularly take in omega 3 fatty acids may reduce their risk for developing thrombotic disease in the future.
Krill oil may be a safe alternative to increasing your concentration of omega 3 fatty acids, like EPA and DHA.
So if you do not like fish, pick up a bottle of Omega Icon today!
