A Healthy Meal In Less Than A Minute?

Last week, I was feeling pretty blah.  I had reached the point of my diet, where I didn’t want t cook…I didn’t like any of the food we had gotten…and I didn’t really feel like eating anything.

But I knew I had to.

I was stuck, however, in a quandary:

I wanted something to eat, but I didn’t want to spend much time preparing it.  Have you ever been there before?

I am sure you have.  Anyone who has been on a diet or tried to transform their bodies has been there.

But you manage to plow though and get to your destination: A healthy body and one you’re proud to show off.

It does take patience…it does take virtue…

And it does take a pretty darn simple meal replacement shake recipe to turn things around for you!

(At least it did for me!)

A couple days of having a meal replacement shake and I was back in the saddle and ready to go.  Not only that, I knew I was getting all the nutrients I needed in order to help me last longer throughout the day before I had to eat again.

So it was kind of a win-win for me: Get all the nutrition I needed, without the hassle of having to dirty up the kitchen or even spend a long time making it.

It was like heaven and made me happy to get back to eating right.  So why did this work so well for me?

The Benefit of Meal Replacement Shakes


Meal replacement shakes are exactly what the name says it is: A replacement for a meal.

When you’re busy…or always on the go…a meal replacement shake is a great way to get all the nutrients, fiber, vitamins, and minerals you need in order to lose weight or just have the energy to make it through the day.

They do well in a pinch and can be very easy to prepare.   These power shakes may also stabilize your blood sugar levels and give you the energy to complete your tasks in between meals.

Plus, they may be able to help you lose weight!  How can they do that?

Most meal replacement shakes contain roughly 250 to 300 calories—just the powder itself.  This calorie content is due to all the appetite-curbing nutrients (such as protein, fiber, and healthy fats).  

And these same nutrients may enable you to manage your appetite and keep your weight loss in the forefront.

But again, they have to be easy to prepare, right?  What I am telling you may not sound easy, but trust me it is!

 

 

Now, the simplest variation that can be made with water and just Lean to give you 295 calories, 35g of protein, and 11g of fiber.

BUT:

If you want to increase the volume and make it a little thicker and last a little longer, you can always substitute milk for the water.

Not only are you going to add a touch more protein, carbs, and healthy fats, you’re also going to add in about 75 to 100 more calories.

This should make you last longer between meals and keep those hunger pangs at bay—while eliminating cravings all together.

But what happens when this isn’t enough? When you know you’re going to be gone for a lot longer and it may be 4 to 6 hours before you’re going to eat again?

What do you do then?


The answer is simple you add a banana and 1Tbsp of coconut oil to your shake.


Obviously, adding in different ingredients will add more volume to the shake, therefore making you feel fuller for a heck of a lot longer.

And, when you add more things, like fruits, nut butter, coconut oil, and veggies, you’re also going to add more fiber and protein to the mix.

Just by adding the banana and if you were to add the coconut oil, this shake would easily top 600 calories, with all kinds of appetite-suppressing goodness.

Why You Need a High-Quality Meal Replacement Shake


Everyone reaches that point in their diet plan where they are just tired of preparing healthy meals.  They are tired of spending most of their time in the kitchen, cutting, chopping, and preparing different versions of chicken, beef, or even vegetarian dishes.

And that could lead to a serious derailment in their ability to maintain their healthy eating program and the eventual weight loss that could accompany said program.

But it doesn’t just have to be that you’re tired of making healthy foods…

It could be anything.  In fact, it could be:

 

  • Busy times driving kids back and forth between appointments or after-school activities
  • Not having the time in the morning to make a healthy breakfast
  • Long meetings where food may not be provided (or if it is, it’s not healthy)
  • Long commute home

They may provide the right mix of protein, carbs, and healthy fats to help you make it through the day. However, not all meal replacement shakes are made equally.

Some may have a ton of calories, but not much in terms of protein, carbs, or healthy fats.  That means you may not make it through the day—or your hunger will be through the roof
