Vitamin D is at it again!
The powerful vitamin, which can be made by your body by adequate sun exposure, may encourage many positive health benefits.
From lowering your diabetes risk to encouraging weight loss, maintaining adequate vitamin D levels may be very important.
However, a busy lifestyle and your reliance on a Western diet, may lower your vitamin D levels.
In fact, most Americans may be deficient in Vitamin D.
And this may be impacting your health.
Eating the right foods, like dark leafy greens or fortified food products, may increase your vitamin D intake and lower your risk factors.
Now, however, low vitamin D may be associated with a treatable but potentially DEADLY disease.
Taking the right steps NOW, may reduce your risk and improve your overall health - for the long term.
Let me explain…
Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the top part of your intestines or in your rectum (the end of the intestines).
It may be one of the leading causes of death attributed to cancer.
However, if caught early, it may be completely treatable.
Colorectal cancer affects BOTH men and women.
And of cancer related deaths, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death among both sexes (2007).
Here are some more STAGGERING statistics (current stats are from 2007):
• 142,672 people were diagnosed with colorectal cancer
• Of those 142,672 people, 72,755 were men and 69,917 were women
• 53,219 deaths were associated with colorectal cancer
• Of those 53,219 people, 27,004 were men and 26,215 were women
Colorectal cancer can be a devastating and DEADLY disease.
But research may show a new fighter against colorectal cancer.
And this fighter may be one that is naturally produced by your body.
Vitamin D and Colorectal Cancer
Vitamin D may be associated with a reduced risk for developing colon cancer.
In fact, researchers in Taiwan aimed to see if vitamin D levels were associated with a reduced risk for colorectal cancer.
The researchers analyzed 737 subjects and 703 control subjects.
What they found was TRULY SHOCKING!
Of the 737 cases, increased vitamin D levels significantly REDUCED colorectal cancer risk.
And those in the lowest percentile, showed the highest risk.
They also noted that high calcium levels may also significantly reduce colorectal cancer risk.
People in the lowest percentile for calcium, showed an increased risk for colorectal cancer.
They concluded that HIGHER vitamin D levels may reduce colorectal cancer development through modification of the gene that vitamin D binds to.
Increase Your Vitamin D
Quickly becoming one of the most important vitamins, vitamin D may reduce your risk for certain diseases.
Low vitamin D levels may be linked to weight gain, increased risk for diabetes, and now - colorectal cancer.
Maintaining adequate exposure to the sun may increase your vitamin D levels.
But due to weather and colder climates, the sun’s rays may lose strength.
And this may lead to your body NOT producing any vitamin D.
Eating the right foods, dark leafy green vegetables, and vitamin D fortified foods, may be ways to include more vitamin D into your nutrition.
But like everyone, maintaining the right foods may be difficult.
That’s one reason why multi-vitamins contain vitamin D.
A multi-vitamin, in combination with vitamin D fortified foods, may increase vitamin D and other essential nutrients
And this may decrease your risk for developing potentially DEADLY diseases.
Plus, it may fill in the gaps where your nutrition may be lacking.
