I hate to say it, but we are getting older.
For every single day that passes by, you may notice another fine line…another wrinkle…or another gray hair poking its way through.
There is no doubt about it…
You and I both are under the grasps of Father time and there is not much we can do about it!
Wait…what’s that you say? How do some people look fabulous all through life—even when they hit 80, 90, or even 100?
Well, let me tell you…
It has to do with the foods that they are eating!
It’s absolutely, 100 percent true! The foods you eat could 1) make you age faster or 2) slow down the aging process, making you look—and feel—like you did in your 30’s, 40’s, or even your 50’s!So what are the top foods to fight off aging?
Let’s start with the first one…
1. Wild-Caught Alaskan Salmon
You know what makes you age extremely fast? It would be inflammation.
Inflammation, and the associated damage from free radicals, destroys cells in your body—and that includes the cells your skin.
That’s where wild-caught fatty fish, like salmon, come in handy!
You see, these fish have a couple things working for them. First, they have a great amount of protein in them.
Adequate protein helps to maintain and repair the cells in your body—and that includes your skin.
Plus, wild-caught salmon possess high levels of the omega-3 fatty acids, which are anti-inflammatory fats your body need to reduce inflammation.
By lowering inflammation and giving your body the right amount of protein to repair itself, salmon could give your skin that refreshingly young look.
2. Beans (and lentils)
You may be surprised that beans and lentils have made the list. But, truth is, beans and lentils are great for reversing the signs of aging.
You see, when people eat a lot of sugary junk food, it could lead to outrageous spikes in your blood sugar.
And high blood sugar levels could lead to inflammation and weight gain—both of which make the skin saggy, wrinkly, dull, and dry.
But beans are quite the opposite. Not only are they packed with antioxidants and fiber, but they are a low-glycemic food.
This means that when you eat beans, there isn’t a sharp increase in blood sugar, which could lead to less inflammation and less chance you’ll store it as fat.
And that is good news for your outward, youthful appearance.
3. Olive Oil
Now, you may think that something like fruits and vegetables should be on the list.
And they should…
But there is something very important you need to know about the relationship between olive oil and fruit (and veggies).
Those fabulous vitamins and minerals that are found in fruits and vegetables need fat to be absorbed by your body.
Enter in olive oil! Olive oil contains a healthy dose of the monounsaturated fats needed to help your body absorb all those wonderful nutrients.
Plus, olive oils contain something called oleic acid. This acid helps keep the cell membrane supple and fresh, allowing for good nutrients to flow in and all that nasty waste to flow out.
