A new study shows something so remarkable…
So amazing…
That I simply can’t even believe it!
A breakthrough study from Poland shows that, if you want to boost your exercise performance, then you should probably start eating more fatty fish or take a high-quality omega-3 fatty acid supplement!
Let me explain…
Exercise Performance and Omega-3 Fatty Acids
As you know, the omega-3 fatty acids have been shown in hundreds, if not thousands, of clinical studies to improve almost every aspect of human health.
From protecting your heart (lower cholesterol) to protecting your vision and brain health!
Heck, it may even help with fat loss (a number of crazy ways)!
In case you don’t know, or have yet to discover the power of omega-3 fats, check out this article on the amazing benefits of the omega-3 fatty acids.
So to say the omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, are important would be an understatement!
However, this new study shows an amazing NEW benefit you may get from taking just 1.3 grams a day of these potent fats!
Now, one way to improve exercise and athletic performance is to increase VO2 max – or the maximum amount of oxygen an athlete can use per minute.
An increase in the VO2 max could be a sign of increase in the athlete performance.
So, back to the study…
This new study shows that athletes given 1.3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids, twice a day, showed a marked increase in their VO2 max.
How did it increase VO2 max?
Well, one possible way to increase VO2 max is to increase the amount of blood that is pumped through the body.
One way that may accomplish this increase in blood flow may be higher levels of nitric oxide. Now, nitric oxide has been shown to open up arteries – a process called vasodilation – which could improve blood blow throughout your body.
The researchers discovered that the group supplemented with the omega-3 fatty acids showed increased levels of nitric oxide as well as increased VO2 max scores.
The end result = improved performance in the cyclists in the omega-3 fatty acid group.
The findings conclude: “These findings suggest that an increase in NO release in response to n-3 PUFA supplementation may play a central role in cardiovascular adaptive mechanisms and enhanced exercise performance in cyclists.”
Conclusions
The omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA, are some of the most beneficial fats around!
These potent fats have been shown to improve heart, brain, and eye health and may even lend a hand in fat loss.
And that’s just the beginning! A new study shows that these beneficial fats may also improve your exercise performance!
This study shows that the omega-3 fats may increase nitric oxide production, which could lead to improvements in VO2 max.
So, if you were waiting for another reason to get more omega-3 fats in your day, this should be all you need!
