Is Your Shower Causing Fat Gain?
By Kevin DiDonato MS, CES--Level 1 Certified Precision Nutrition and Certified Personal Trainer
I am mad…
Downright angry…
And ashamed at the way companies and manufacturers LIE straight to our faces!
For example, there are HUNDREDS of toxins that may be present in items that you use every day. And these toxins may be DEADLY for your health.
Now, no one argues that these toxins are bad for you…
But they do argue that most of these toxins or pollutants are rendered harmless BEFORE or IMMEDIATELY after they enter into your body.
Another good example of this is BPA. That’s right, BPA the same chemical that may be found in many different plastics, cans, shampoos, conditioners ...
The companies and manufacturers say that this chemical – which is a type of hormone disruptor – is rendered useless by your own liver!
Now, you’re probably scratching your head and wondering how this could be, since you’ve been warned that BPA is detrimental to your health…
…and with many different countries BANNING it’s use! It's not just bad for your health, this chemicals may be making it harder for you to lose weight and get in shape.
It's everywhere including the soaps you use to clean your dishes and your body, and the shampoos and conditioners that leave your hair shimmering, clean, and radiant.
So what can this "harmless" chemical do once it gets inside your body?
Well, let’s take a look…
BPA and Fat Gain
BPA is a chemical that has saturated our foods, drinks, and everyday household products.
It’s a very powerful synthetic compound that is used to make plastics and other products.
It’s found in water bottles, food containers, shampoo, conditioners, and the inner lining of tin cans. This then may lead to BPA leaking into the foods you eat, the water you drink, and the shampoo and soaps that you use to clean your skin and hair, therefore leading to potential health problems.
The problem with BPA is this: it’s a powerful endocrine disruptor – meaning it disrupts the normal production of hormones in the body.
However, some food experts say that BPA may be eliminated BEFORE it enters your body – or quickly after it does.
These “experts” also say that your liver may be able to handle BPA effectively, therefore eliminating it without causing any adverse health reactions.
However, this may and may not be true!
Studies show that BPA is processed by the liver and converted into a less powerful (more research is needed) molecule than BPA.
The same study showed that while BPA may be converted in your liver to something that leaves your hormones alone, it may not be as safe as the experts want you to believe.
You see, BPA is converted into BPA-Glucoronide – which may be eliminated by your body…
….but not before this new molecule has done its damage! You see, this powerful molecule may cause FAT GAIN from occurring in your body.
And while the mechanism for this FAT GAIN is not yet know, studies show that it may be just as DEADLY as BPA is in your body.
Take Home Message
BPA is a deadly chemical that could disrupt many different processes in your body – especially that of your hormones.
However, some people will argue that it is not as detrimental to your body as many make it out to be.
Are they right? Does this once thought of deadly chemical not really that bad?
The answer is it may be worse! A study conducted in Canada shows that your live may convert BPA into a less damaging molecule to your hormones.
But, they also discovered that this new molecule that may be created, may actually increase your fat gain over the long haul.
If you want to protect your health, then you may want to consider eliminating plastic bottles that are not BPA free, avoid eating foods out of cans, and be wary of food products that have been shown to contain high levels of BPA.
This could lower your exposure to BPA and could ultimately protect your health in the long run.
