Is The Government Allowing Toxic Ingredients Into Your Food?
By Kevin DiDonato MS, CSCS, CES
I have some really terrible news for you…
The foods and the drinks you’re currently eating or drinking could be loaded with nutrients that could be KILLING you.
No, I am not talking about sugar this time (although sugar is also found in many of the foods and drinks you consume today).
And to be honest, if you don’t BAN these man-made nutrients from your diet, then you may experience some pretty adverse effects.
What am I referring to?
Artificial Sweeteners and Health
As you know, eating too much sugar could be bad for your health.
And this is precisely why food manufacturers came up with an alternative sweetener to replace the use of sugar in everyday food products.
However, is the safest alternative out there?
According to governing bodies, such as the FDA and the American Diabetes Association, they are.
In fact, these artificial ingredients – often man-made sweeteners – are routinely recommended for those suffering from diabetes, or for those who are in danger of developing diabetes.
However, here’s the problem: Artificial sweeteners may NOT be as great for your health as once thought.
In fact, some studies have linked artificial sweeteners to diabetes, intense cravings for sugary foods, and even weight gain.
But, that’s not all…
Artificial sweeteners may also be linked to severe headaches, nausea, hearing loss, mood changes, anxiety, and about a dozen other reactions.
Plus, artificial sweeteners may increase your blood sugar and insulin response, which could lead to the development of diabetes, if you’re not careful.
And when it comes to fat loss, artificial sweeteners may not be any different than regular sugar.
Besides artificial sweeteners being 10 times as sweet as sugar, which could lead to cravings for sugary foods, they may also spike fat storage due to the increased activity of potent fat-storing enzymes and molecules.
What To Do Next
If you want to reduce the impact of artificial sweeteners, here’s what you should do:
Step 1: AVOID Foods That Contain Artificial Sweeteners
Avoiding foods such as diet soda, low-fat food products (sweetened with artificial sweeteners), chewing gum, and other food
products that contain these non-nutritive additives would be the first step in the right direction.
This could reduce your intake of artificial sweeteners, which could add some benefits to your health.
Step 2: Look For Plant-Based Sweeteners
There are plenty of natural, whole food plant-based sweeteners such as Agave or Stevia.
These sweeteners may be lower glycemic sweeteners that could do the trick for sweetening your foods or drinks – without creating a wrecking ball for your health.
Step 3: Reach For A Fruit For Sweetness
Some people need something a little sweet in order to satisfy their sweet cravings.
Why not reach for a piece of your favorite fruit? Fruit could add a low-calorie food that could boost your fat loss, increase your satisfaction, and could lead to improvements in your health.
But the key takeaway should be to limit or eliminate your intake of artificial sweeteners. This one simple step could provide some amazing benefits to your health and your fat loss.
