Many people, of child-bearing age, have a hard time getting pregnant.
Most people think the women may be to blame.
However, there is growing evidence that both the man and the women may have issues with infertility.
And those issues may be preventing you from bringing a little one into the world.
For men, doctors may treat a number of different issues ranging from erectile dysfunction to low testosterone levels, in order to increase your chance of improving fertility.
However, in some men, it may NOT be their testosterone that is to blame!
It may be their sperm.
Changes to the structure, count, and mobility of sperm may be the deciding factor if you are or are not going to get pregnant.
And interestingly enough, your DIET may play a very large role in your overall sperm health and your chances of fertility.
And this holds true for BOTH men AND women.
Diet and Sperm Health
Studies have shown that your diet plays a large role in your overall health.
And now, researchers have shown that your diet may play a large role in your chances of getting pregnant.
For example, a women going through in-vitro fertilization to increase the odds of getting pregnant, may have a better chance at pregnancy if she consumes a lower amount of carbohydrates and a higher amount of protein.
The same may hold true for MEN and carbohydrates.
A recent study showed that men, who consumed a large amount of dietary carbohydrates, had no change in the shape or the mobility of their sperm.
But, a HIGH CARBOHYDRATE diet may DECREASE the number of sperm a man has.
And the results of a new study shows, that a higher intake of dairy, may change the shape of sperm, therefore potentially lowering your fertility.
And it was only THREE SERVINGS PER DAY that was enough to change the shape of the sperm!
They showed that higher-fat daily products, like creamer, high-fat cheese, or whole milk, increased the risk for altered sperm shape.
Even though the dairy altered the shape, the mobility and the count was not affected!
Diet and Fertility
If you are having trouble getting pregnant, then seeing a reproductive specialist may be in order.
However, guys, you may be altering the health, count, and shape of your sperm, which could make it that much harder to get pregnant.
By altering your diet to lower your carbohydrate intake, add more protein, and lower your intake of high-fat dairy, you may alter the health of your sperm, which could increase your chances of getting pregnant.
