As a fat loss seeker, you know just how important it is to exercise in order to lose weight.
Some may use the traditional strength training approach…
While others may use the cardio approach…
And still others may use a combination approach (both strength and cardio) for fat loss!
Whichever way you do it, you should know that both ways may help you burn more calories and lose more weight.
As avid exercisers, you may choose multiple modes of exercise to reach your ultimate goal: weight and fat loss.
But for beginners – or the couch potatoes among us – they may not have that luxury.
Why?
All exercise, gyms, and fitness centers may be a HUGE step to overcome. And when you are just starting out on an exercise program, there are some basics that everyone should start with…
The Basics to Fitness and Fat Loss
For those of you starting out on the fitness and weight loss path, there are some basics you need to consider.
First, strength training is a VITAL component to any plan.
In order for you to have a more toned look after you lose the fat, you need to have a solid strength foundation.
And that means you need to do resistance training in order to boost your lean muscle development.
Now cardio, on the other hand, is a great way to get active, burn calories, and lose weight - in a shorter amount of time!.
And a new study may shed some light on this…
Here’s what they found:
They showed that aerobic training was more effective at reducing total body mass and fat mass than resistance training.
However, they showed that the combination of resistance training and aerobic training did not result in more fat mass or body mass reductions – even though it took double the time.
They did note that a resistance training program is needed for increasing lean muscle mass in middle-aged, overweight adults.
They concluded:
“It appears that aerobic training is the optimal mode of exercise for reducing fat mass and body mass.”
What You Do Does Matter
When it comes to weight loss, there are many different things that you need to consider.
You need the right diet…
And you need the right exercise plan if you are going to get the results that you are looking for.
Now, according to the results of this study, the best way to reduce fat mass and total body mass would be to do aerobic training.
Plus, resistance training, although not as effective, is needed in order to build more lean muscle mass on your body.
In order to lose fat, especially if you’re a beginner, the right program would be to start with cardio to burn excess calories and later add resistance training to the program to increase your lean mass and get your body stronger.
