Losing weight is not a simple task, and people just like you struggle with it every day.
There are many reasons why people want to lose weight: to look good naked, fit into their “skinny” jeans, or have the sexy six-pack look that they have been dreaming about.
However, there is an even bigger picture for weight loss: better overall health and lower risk for chronic diseases.
With that said, losing weight does not have to be a difficult thing to do.
By making small changes to what you already do every day, could increase your metabolism and boost your fat burning potential.
Here are five tips to remember if you want to lose weight:
Tip #1: Start Your Morning Off Right
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Not only does it boost your metabolism and get you off on the right foot, but it can also provide essential nutrients your body needs to jump start your metabolism.
Including 100 percent whole grains (or sprouted grains), lean proteins (egg are perfect, yolk and all), and essential fats to your morning routine can boost your metabolism and leave you fuller for a longer time.
If you do not currently eat breakfast, you could be slowing your metabolism to a snail’s crawl.
Tip: If you do not currently enjoy a nice morning meal, then start slow with a piece of fruit and an egg.
Slowly increase this over time until you are enjoying a meal rich in lean proteins, essential fats, and plenty of fiber.
Tip #2: Avoid Eating At Your Desk
This could be the biggest no-no when it comes to weight loss and even stress-free living
Stepping out of the office to eat lunch, can allow you the freedom to enjoy your lunch and not feel pressured to work or return that email.
Eating at your desk or in front of the TV could also lead to overeating, which can mindlessly pack on the pounds over the long haul.
Tip: You may not actually be hungry, but you may just be filling in the void by eating. Instead, get up and go for a brisk walk. This will increase your activity and give your body a much needed break away from the daily grind
Tip #3: Eat the RIGHT Kind of Foods
Losing weight is simple: burn more calories than you eat.
However, the foods that you EAT do matter.
Looking at labels and learning what the right foods are that burn more FAT, could be the best way to educate yourself on what foods are good and what foods are not so good.
Instead of calorie counting, focus your efforts on picking out foods that are full of fiber, lean, grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, and you could see a slimmer waistline in no time.
Tip: The type of calories you are eating is an important step in weight loss. Low-calorie snacks may lead to weight loss, but they can also lead to overeating.
This could end up adding even MORE calories to your day, which could lead to extra weight gain.
Tip #4: Get More Sleep
If you are like most people in the world, you probably average around five hours of sleep per night.
Nothing else can add weight to your body than lack of sleep.
Lack of sleep stimulates a specific hormone in your body that increases hunger, which can cause you to eat more.
Plus, lack of sleep can also increase your cortisol levels which can lead to weight gain.
Tip: Shut the TV off or close your book and try to get some shut-eye.
More sleep has been shown to stimulate adiponectin, which is a powerful weight-loss hormone released by your fat cells.
Lack of sleep decreases the activity of adiponectin, which can cause you to eat more.
Aim to get eight hours of shut-eye a night to stimulate your body to burn even more – while you SLEEP.
Tip #5: Eat MORE
Everything you have ever been told about weight loss is to cut calories.
But if you are stuck in a weight-loss plateau, then you may want to consider INCREASING your calories.
If you have too little calories, then your body may actually think it's starving.
This causes your body to shut off fat burning, and focus your metabolism on burning lean mass (protein stores).
This could cause your metabolism to slow to a crawl, and increase your FAT right gain.
Tip: Try to eat smaller meals that include fiber, fruits and vegetables, and lean proteins, throughout the days.
This will help you to stay fuller for longer throughout the day, and help preserve your lean mass and boost your metabolism in the process.
