Three Foods For A Flatter Belly And Less Bloating
By Kevin DiDonato MS, CSCS, CES
There are many things that contribute to fat gain. But one that is seldom talked about is bloating.
This could occur due to a number of different things. For example, too much sodium could cause you to retain water, which in turn, leads to bloating.
Or, poor digestion may also lead to bloating, cramping, and other issues.
That’s why today, we have some foods that could help shrink your belly and get rid of the extra bloat…
Three Foods That Control the Bloat
Bloating – which is the buildup of fluid between your cells – can be a sign of a poor diet, poor digestion, or a handful of other issues.
And if you’re not careful, it could contribute to extra weight gain.
Now, there are many things you can do to prevent bloating. For example, you may ease bloating symptoms by reducing the amount of sodium in your diet or even drinking a little more water.
But, you may also be able to reduce bloating symptoms by eating the right foods aimed at improving your digestion.
And to boot, these same foods may also contribute to weight and fat loss.
So what are they?
1. Celery
Besides being a low-calorie food, celery has been used for years as a way to improve digestion, boost fat loss, and increase sex drive in men.
The reason this stalky food may be great for reducing the bloat is due to the high water content found in the veggie.
Plus, it contains potent vitamins and minerals that may detoxify your body, leading to better digestion and less bloating.
2. Beans or Lentils
If you are a person who tends to eat out a lot or you go heavy with the salt shaker, then these two options are for you.
One common problem with too much sodium happens to be lower potassium levels. And this could lead to bloating.
By reducing your sodium intake and increasing your potassium (beans and lentils are LOADED with potassium) then you may see some pretty dramatic changes to your bloating.
Plus, beans and lentils have loads of fiber, which could lend a hand in improving your digestion.
3. Watermelon
Another low-calorie food, watermelon really packs some bloat busting power.
The real power behind watermelon – besides the high water content – is the high potassium level.
Again, potassium may help with the delicate sodium/potassium balance. This could lead to lower sodium levels, which could significantly reduce your bloat.
