A Flatter Belly In JUST 7 Days? (unbelievable)
In 2008, the World Health Organization released some pretty damaging statistics.
They showed that 35 percent of people - 20 years and older - were overweight.
And to make matters worse, 10 percent of them were labeled clinically obese.
Now. that was in 2008! Today, the statistics may be even worse!
That’s why there is such a dramatic increase in weight loss programs, fad diets, and weight loss surgery.
And this leads me to a brand-new study that was recently published.
In the study, all the participants (overweight or obese men) lost 11 pounds in only four days.
Now, this sounds pretty revolutionary – and enticing to those who have a lot – or a little – belly fat to lose.
But the question remains: is this safe?
The 11 Pound Fat Loss Diet
On any given day, there are hundreds of thousands (or more) of people looking to lose some of the excess fat they are carrying.
They may look to many different alternatives, such as fad diets that promise rapid results to intense exercise programs that could lead to injury.
And on the extreme side of fat loss, many people opt for dangerous, often-times life altering weight loss surgery in order to shed years of stubborn belly fat away.
But here’s the problem:
Most people are looking for the quick fix – a way to lose the fat without investing a lot of time in doing so.
And that brings me to the latest study…
Researchers in Spain and England conducted a very intensive program, where their subjects were only allowed to eat 3.2 cals/kg/BW per day and were made to continuously exercise for 8 hours (plus 45 minute arm crank) per day in order to burn 5,000 calories from exercise.
Their calories were given in the form of a whey protein shake or a placebo (sucrose drink) and given during the 8 hours of
exercise.
On average, all the men in the study lost an average of 11 pounds in only four days by using either drink.
The men also showed decreases in serum glucose, insulin, total and LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Also, the men had decreased levels of leptin during all forms of follow-up.
But, here’s the kicker:
Along with the loss of fat mass, the men also lost a significant amount of lean mass in the process.
Although they concluded: “A clinically relevant reduction in fat mass can be achieved in overweight men in just 4 days by combining prolonged exercise with CR,” would this be safe for everyone?
The Verdict Is…
Although this protocol may be enticing due to the rapid weight loss and short amount of time, the loss of protein – regardless of whey vs. sucrose drinks – could be cause for concern.
Since muscle mass is one of the main drivers behind a faster metabolism, losing lean mass may slow your metabolism and could lead to issues with weight regain.
So what is the take home message: A quick type of diet plan to address the rise in obesity may only be good short term.
But a well-planned out diet (one that has plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, essential fats, and fibrous carbs) and a daily exercise program, could have lasting effects on your metabolism and your fat loss results.
Yes, it may take longer, but the results could last longer than a short, quick fat loss fix.
