Five More Reasons to Avoid Diet Soda
On the outside, diet soda looks really, really appealing.
It contains ZERO calories…
ZERO grams of fat…
And may give you the caffeine kick you need to make it through the rest of the day.
But on the inside, there may be dangerous chemical preservatives…
Dyes for coloring that may cause cancer…
Even artificial sweeteners that do nothing but STIMULATE your sugary food cravings…boost your risk for type 2 diabetes…and may even cause extra weight gain.
Wait, weight gain? Yes, some studies have linked diet soda consumption to increased weight gain!
Now, here are FIVE other reasons you should be avoiding diet soda…
1. Psychologically Damaging Effects
Diet soda may not alter your mood or have damaging effects that way, but it does trick your mind into thinking something is okay to eat.
Since diet soda contains zero calories and zero grams of fat, many people think this gives them the green light to overindulge in a calorie-laden meal, such as a cheeseburger or a three or more slices of pizza.
If you routinely justify a high-caloric meal just because you drink diet soda, then your waist and the numbers on the scale may start to go northward instead of southward.

Now, many people feel that diet soda may prevent this – due to the fact that you’re not ingesting any added or refined sugars.

And this could put you at greater risk for having a stroke, heart attack, or other potentially negative health outcomes.

Yes, it's low calorie and contains ZERO grams of sugar, but diet soda contains virtually NO nutritive value when compared to the only ZERO calorie drink you should get more of – water.
But, what it lacks in nutrition value it makes up for in chemicals, preservatives, and other additives that may be destructive to your overall health.
