The Diet You Should Be AVOIDING
High-fat diets.
Known to cause everything from insulin resistance to type 2 Diabetes…
And, this type of diet may also lead to inflammation of your fat cells, therefore rendering them incapable of doing their job – releasing and burning fat.
But now, this type of diet – when consumed daily or many times a week – may be linked a more dire health condition.
A disease that may ruin lives…
A disease that roughly 42,000 people will be diagnosed with…
A disease that, for over 38,000 people, will result in death…
The disease that took the life of the creator of Apple products!
There may be no full cure.
And over the last TEN years, there has been a dramatic spike in the development and deaths attributed to this disease.
What am I talking about?
Pancreatic cancer.
Now, you may be asking how high-fat diets are linked…
High-Fat Diets and Pancreatic Cancer
Now, for those of you who don’t know what pancreatic cancer is, let me give you a little bit of insight as the pancreas and its function in your body.
Now, the pancreas is located right behind your stomach. Not only does it release insulin, but it produces and releases many other enzymes into your intestines to help break food particles down – especially FAT.
Now, there are tiny cells – called islets – that produce and secrete powerful hormones that may help with blood sugar regulation.
Those two hormones are insulin and glucagon.
Now, those tiny islets may develop tumors – often called islet cell tumors – which may account for some of the cases of pancreatic cancer.
Although there is very little evidence as to why a person develops pancreatic cancer, some lifestyle and diseases may attribute to its development.
In fact, people with Diabetes may have a higher risk for developing pancreatic cancer, as well as people with long-term inflammation of
the pancreas.
Genetics may also play a role in your risk and development of pancreatic cancer.
Now, however, researchers have determined that long-term exposure to high-fat/calorie diets may also be a culprit in the development of pancreatic cancer.
How?
First, you should understand this about high-fat diets: it may lead to overweight or obese adults, which could lead to insulin resistance and inflammation of your pancreas cells.
And this inflammation, the researchers suggest, may lead to an increased risk for developing pre-cancerous cell in the pancreas, when there is a specific gene mutation.
Here’s what they found:
By feeding mice – with a genetic mutation of the KRAS gene – a high fat diet, they noticed that 90 percent of the mice gained weight and all developed insulin resistance and pancreatic inflammation.
And, they suggested, that both of these conditions may lead to the development of pancreatic pre-cancer cell or pancreatic cancer.
They also noticed that the mice fed a high-fat diet also developed more advanced pancreatic cancer lesions than mice that were fed a normal diet.
What did they conclude?
Their results suggest that a KRAS mutated gene – alone – may not account for the higher risk in pancreatic cancer.
However, they do suggest that a mutation in the KRAS gene AND a high-fat/high-calorie diet may “provide a secondary environmental hit and trigger pancreatic cancer development.”
Take Home Message
Although it may taste good, a high-fat – many days a week- may not be the best option for your health.
In fact, it has been linked to the development of obesity, insulin resistance, increased pancreatic inflammation, and in this study,
pancreatic cancer.
The risk may be confounded in people with a mutation in the KRAS gene, which may further increase the risk for pancreatic cancer.
The best advice: avoid high-calorie, high fat diets.
Foods such as fried chicken, French fries, fried dough…or basically anything fried, should be consumed in minimal doses in order to protect your health and well-being.
Today is the day you take the right steps in improving your health!
