The health surveys are in, and they paint a very dark picture, not only on the health of US citizen, but the whole world’s health.
Now, once or twice every few months may not be as bad for you…
But if you eat this more than once a week – or even once a month – then you are putting your health in serious jeopardy.
The worst part – this industry knows exactly what health risk their products may cause – but they may be unwilling to change in order to reduce the global obesity epidemic.
Now, if you’re wondering what the foods are – which will be revealed in a minute - and how you can avoid these types of foods in the future, then you need to read on.
The HIDDEN DANGERS of Fast Food
That-s right, the answer is fast food.
If you’re one that has stopped visiting fast food chains, then congratulations, you have a step on some people for improving YOUR health.
But, if you’re one who has yet to give up fast food – or find it extremely difficult – you’re not alone.
In fact, there are more people who eat fast food – and on a regular basis – than ever before.
Now, fast food companies have changed the way they label their food products – like labeling for calories and nutrients - but the fact still remains: fast food may still be bad for you.
In fact, there are many hidden dangers that exist in fast food.
Here are just some of them:
1. Fast Food may Make You Fat
Fast food contains a lot of extra calories, which may contribute to overeating throughout the day.
What most people don’t know is that fast food may contain between 300 and 1000 extra calories per meal – depending on sides or “combo” meals.
The reason: the ingredients in fast food products are made in bulk, which means the product is cheaper to produce.
Not only are the portions extremely large, many of those calories are coming from fat and processed white carbohydrates.
A recent report shows that children, between the ages of four and 19, consume fast food at least once per month – if not more.
And, depending on the frequency of their fast food intake, the children gain – on average – SIX POUNDS per year.
2. You Could Develop Diabetes
The US Health Department recently stated that if you eat fast food then you are at risk for developing insulin resistance.
Insulin – which is a hormone release by your pancreas – is needed for normal blood glucose control.
However, when your body does not utilize insulin, or doesn’t produce it at all – then chances are you have insulin resistance – or even Diabetes.
And if you’re insulin resistant – meaning your body doesn’t respond to insulin – then chances are greater for developing diabetes.
3. Fast Food Has WAY To Much Sodium
In order to preserve the meat, buns, and fries, sodium is often added to many of your fast food favorites.
And this could contribute to 30 percent or more of your daily recommended intake of sodium.
What’s the harm, you may be asking?
Well, too much sodium in your blood, leads to your heart working harder to clear that sodium.
And this could lead to high blood pressure, which has been shown to be a major contributing factor to heart disease development.
4. Fast Food Is Too Processed (way to low in the RIGHT nutrients)
If you read these articles, then you already know how BAD processed food is for your body.
Processed foods may lead to increases in blood sugar, insulin, and your weight.
And, this may contribute to fat gain and other unsafe health conditions.
What fast food gains in taste (from sodium and fat) it loses in its nutrient profile.
Fast food is void of heart-healthy fiber, lean proteins (the proteins are usually combined with fat), and lacks the essential vitamins and minerals that are designed to keep you healthy.
So you’re left with white, processed flour (bad for blood sugar and weight), fatty beef patties, and tons of sodium and other empty calories.
Avoid These Dangerous Foods
If you’re serious about your health – which I am sure you are – then you NEED to avoid the temptation of eating at fast food joints.
Not only is it bad for your health, but it may lead to extra weight gain, poor blood sugar control, and an increased risk for heart disease, diabetes ,and even cancer.
Avoiding fast food, and instead eating whole foods – like fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and sprouted grains – may not only improve your health, but could lead to fat loss, and could even reduce your cravings for fast food.
