Is This The WORST Carb Ever? (skip if you want to lose FAT)
By Kevin DiDonato MS, CSCS, CES
You have done everything you can to lose weight.
You have cut out all refined and processed foods…
You have included more fruits and vegetables…
You have even gone so far as to start an exercise program…
You’ve even cut out all food products that contain the dreaded high fructose corn syrup…
But, you still aren’t losing weight.
And the worst thing, you may actually be gaining weight!
What’s the deal?
Hiding HFCS in Foods
High fructose corn syrup – otherwise known as HFCS – is a very cheap filler that is in many of the different food products you eat today.
And as more negative information comes out about this mass produced sweetener, more consumers are steering clear of HFCS and its toxic reputation.
You may be asking, “How bad can HFCS really be?”
Well, here are some of the things HFCS does in your body:
1) Contributes to the developing of many chronic diseases
2) Leads to a buildup of fat in the liver, therefore negatively altering the body’s cholesterol production
3) Contributes to overweight and obese adults, teens, and children
4) May increase your risk for developing cancer
But here’s one of the worst things about high fructose corn syrup: It’s highly addictive!
In fact, it’s so addictive that it may increase your cravings for nutrient poor, higher calorie food options that you may not normally purchase.
However, Big Food is pretty crafty…
You see, since many people are concerned about their health and fat loss, they typically avoid food that has HFCS on the label.
So they avoid foods that have HFCS on the label and look for other foods.
However, they may mask sugar under a multitude of different names.
The fact is: There are 257 different names for sugar!
And each one may do the same thing in the body – spike your chances of gaining fat.
So what should you do?
1) Educate yourself on the different names for sugar.
As I mentioned earlier, there are over 200 different names for sugar. And each one may contribute to how much sugar you may be getting in your diet.
Avoid ingredients like: Corn syrup, fructose, isolated fructose, molasses, dextrose, and others.
2) Avoid refined and processed foods.
These types of foods are the number one worst offender of added sugar. Anything that comes in a box, bag, or wrapped up may contain boatloads of sugar – even if sugar is not one of the ingredients.
Remember, the more sugar you have, the greater your risk for fat gain.
