Guys, These Household Products Can Lower Testosterone
Did you know, there are many common household products that may disrupt the internal workings of your body?
And, that when these products disrupt your internal workings, many processes in your body may become disrupted as well? It’s true!
Common everyday household cleaners, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and creams may contain harmful chemicals that may alter the way your body produces and secretes powerful hormones that you need for fat loss, hormone production, and other vital systems in your body.
What are the TOP three products to AVOID?
The Top Three Household Products to AVOID to Melt Fat
You have done everything right.
You watch what you eat…
You limit your intake of processed foods and pre-packaged sweets…
And you exercise.
But it seems like nothing is working.
You still see that layer of fat hanging around your belly, butt, hips, or thighs.
And you’re discouraged.
What is wrong with your body? Why aren’t you seeing the changes you want?
The reason: Most of the common household products that are at your disposal!
What you may not know is that your everyday cleaners, shampoos, lotions, shaving cream, and even soup cans may be causing you to hold on to your fat.
You see, these commonly used products may contain chemicals that disrupt your normal hormone production.
And this could lead to less energy, and most importantly, more fat gain.
What products should you avoid? Take a look at the list below:
1. Shampoo
Would you be surprised to find that shampoo, out of all things, may lead to greater fat storage?
Well, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it can!
Shampoo contains a chemical called parabens.
Think of parabens as a preservative for shampoo. But unlike more preservatives, this one is a chemical that has been shown to do tremendous damage in your body.
You see parabens – otherwise known as hormone disruptors – mimic the female hormone estrogen.
And when parabens enter into your body (the skin is very absorbing), it mimics the hormone estrogen and binds to your cell’s estrogen receptors.
When this process happens, there are certain hormones that are released that shouldn’t be.
Result: lower testosterone levels. And when your testosterone levels are LOW, then there could be lower muscle mass.
Oh, and did I mention parabens have been shown to create new FAT cells?
The process of making new fat cells – adipogenesis – involves immature fat cells (pre-adipocytes) turning into full-fledged fat cells (adipocytes).
In one study, parabens were shown to promote adipogenesis of fat cells.
They showed that the fat cell morphology was altered…
There was greater fat accumulation…
And the expression of adipocyte mRNA, which are fat cell markers, were increased.
Result: greater fat and weight gain.
2. Products That Contain Fragrance
Have you ever wondered why your shampoo, lotions, or creams smell so good?
The reason: Chemicals called phthalates are what make your products smell so nice!
But be careful when looking at your label for this chemical, because phthalates will not be on the label, but fragrance will be.
Fragrance is just another name for this harmful chemical that can wreak havoc in your body.
Phthalates are very unstable chemicals that may leach into the product. Meaning they have a greater chance of leaching into your skin and body.
Phthalates are able to penetrate your skin layer, which allows for greater absorption of lotions, shampoos, and creams to soften your skin.
However, like parabens, they too are an endocrine disruptor.
They have also been linked to greater weight gain.
In fact, one study showed that mice, given a dose of phthalates, appeared healthy on the outside, but all three of the doses of phthalates resulted in increased food intake, weight gain, and visceral fat stores.
The researchers also noticed a decrease in the hormone adiponectin (adverse effects on insulin sensitivity) and increased levels of leptin (consistent with increased visceral fat stores).
And, in another study, exposure to phthalates increased the expression of PPARa and PPARy – both of which are mediators of adiponectin and fat metabolism – in the liver.
As you can see, increased exposure to phthalates may lead to greater weight and fat gain.
3. Soup Cans
Now, you probably thought soup was a pretty good choice to include when you’re trying to lose weight.
And you would be right, it definitely can be!
However, besides salt and other preservatives found in cans of soup, the liners of the cans contain a potent chemical that has been shown to lead to not only greater fat gain, but cancer and other diseases as well.
Bisphenol A – commonly referred to as BPA – is another endocrine disruptor that creates chaos in your body.
It is usually found in reusable plastics and can liners (soup cans, tuna cans, and others), which may cause the chemical to leach into your soup, shampoo, and lotions, therefore leading to more of it getting into your body.
In fact, some studies have shown that people may have some level of BPA already in their system, tissue, and cells which could have detrimental effects later on in life.
That’s why some countries (Canada and others) have banned this chemical from being used.
Besides acting as an endocrine disruptor, BPA also destroys cholesterol levels. And this may lead to less cholesterol for hormone production.
And, one potent hormone BPA disrupts is the release of adiponectin from fat cells.
Adiponectin is a powerful hormone that controls blood sugar regulation and fat burning.
BPA, according to one study, inhibits the release of adiponectin from fat cells, therefore putting you at greater risk for metabolic syndrome and other adverse health conditions.
Therefore, BPA acts as a double-edged sword when it comes to health and fat loss.
Avoid These Products for Greater Fat Loss
Common household products, such as shampoos, canned foods, lotions, creams, and shaving products may contain harmful chemicals that preserve your fat stores.
These chemicals – referred to as endocrine disruptors – have been linked to a number of different health ailments.
More importantly, however, they have been shown to alter hormone production, increase weight gain, and increase the risk for other chronic diseases.
Avoiding – or limiting – the use of these common household products, may accelerate your fat loss and prevent harm to many of the cells in your body.
